Our People
Banner people are our most valuable asset. In our opinion, thriving colleagues make for a great working environment and a fantastic customer experience, so it’s in our interests to continually improve. Providing the right working conditions to ensure wellbeing and engagement is underpinned by a culture of safety, optimised career planning and access to the right training and development. Furthermore, our ethos is to encourage a workplace of support, respect and tolerance helping us to retain and attract the right people.

Our People
Wellbeing & Workplace: What we’re doing
DIVERSITY AND ANTI-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT
It is our people that make us successful and so we are committed to making Banner an inclusive workplace. We encourage a diverse culture, in which we value our employees for being themselves, and the excellent contributions they make to our business, no matter their age, gender, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, race, nationality or religion.
At Banner, we expect our employees to respect one another and treat their colleagues, and others they come in to contact with, as they would wish to be treated themselves. As an evo company, we are proud to be a ‘Disability Confident’ accredited employer. We have a strong CSR and ESG ethos which is reflected in our company values and the work we do.

With Banner you can build a Career
When James joined Banner on an apprenticeship as a 17-year-old school leaver, he had minimal workplace experience. Three years on, James has developed a wide range of skills, gained qualifications and is now one of our full time sales support administrators.

National Apprenticeship Week 2020 – Apprenticeship interview
Making the switch from studying for her A Levels to starting an Apprenticeship was a big decision for our Digital Marketing Apprentices, Victoria Whiteley. Find out why she thinks it was the right decision.
Training
We’re investing in our people by recruiting the best and training them to be even better. Some of the ways we do this include:
- SkillSoft training and development
- Ongoing appraisals and personal development plans
- Lunch and learn sessions
- Management training
- 300 operational team members trained in 20 different skills using a site skills matrix
- Shop floor to top floor programme, with 95% of our warehouse leaders starting on the shop floor.
Enhanced Employee Wellbeing and Engagement
Engaging with employees and creating an environment of wellbeing has been more of a challenge during the Covid19 pandemic. Despite the many changes, our ethos remains to encourage a workplace of support, respect and tolerance in which employees can thrive. To achieve this we communicate regularly on a broad spectrum of topics from company performance to strategies for improving mental health. We provide training, support packages and a good range of employment benefits. We actively encourage the take up of a volunteer day in the community and support the many fundraising activities undertaken throughout our sites.
In the Final… again! Congratulations to our Truline Drivers – 2022

Helping our Communities with Charity Donations
In 2020, Evo Group donated over £17,500 to various different charities. This included raising over £500 for the NHS, over £200 for Breast Cancer Awareness and over £700 for the COVID staff fund at Pinderfields hospital.

In the Final! Congratulations to our Truline Drivers – 2021
Banner are saying a massive congratulations to the Truline drivers Alistair Mackenzie, Sukjhinder Singh & Andy Cowley, who made it to the finals of 2021’s Van Driver of the Year award, run by Logistics UK.
This is an annual event, where the industry looks to recognise and celebrate the very best drivers from the very best van operators. Truline is the transport and delivery logistics part of the Banner business, and we’re thrilled that our excellent drivers are being recognised for their skills and hard work.
To make it to the final is a fantastic achievement, as all 3 have successfully completed numerous, challenging, Driving Risk Assessment tasks, competing against other drivers from logistics companies around the UK. Having 3 Truline colleagues in the final of only 12 finalists in total, is a proud moment for all involved.
Well done! 👏

A Culture of Safe Working
At Banner we pride ourselves on providing a culture of safe working throughout our operations, based on the world-leading Health & Safety guidelines we are fortunate to have in the UK. We are certified to ISO45001 (H&S) on sites where risk is deemed greatest with all sites working to the guidelines of our H&S Management system. During the Covid19 pandemic, everyone has played their vital part in ensuring safe working, which has led to excellent business continuity for our customers and suppliers, evidencing our ‘no compromise’ stance on health and safety. We set high standards and expect everyone will contribute for the welfare of our people, contractors, visitors and customers alike, but there is always room for improvement which is where constant training, awareness-raising and communication is key.
Safety
We are pleased to hold OHSAS18001 accreditation, but we also recognise that managers and employees are vital to our health and safety. We believe strongly that everyone has a legal duty to co-operate in safety related matters and we make compliance with our safety procedures a condition of employment for everyone.
