With Banner you can keep Students and Staff Protected

Jan 9, 2025 | case study, Education

Banner has been providing Office Supplies and Services to the University of South Wales for more than 10 years. So when the first wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic hit in the Spring of 2020, Banner was on hand to support the University to be as Covid-Secure as possible.

The Service:

The procurement team at the USW approached Banner with a request to create 20,000 branded faces masks for staff and students at the University, a project where it was vital that the right solution was delivered on time and to the right specification.

At this stage in the pandemic there was a lot of confusion regarding the types of face covering required. Banner researched the different options and presented the detail back to USW, so that they could choose the most suitable product for their staff and students to help them remain protected.

The Banner team used their experience, expertise and strong supplier relationship to fully understand the brief and deliver a solution within the required timescales.

The Process:

The project involved a bespoke product design and sample, which were provided to USW for selection. Time was of the essence, so this ensured the right product was ordered and placed to meet delivery deadlines.

USW mask revised

A 3-layered dark grey mask with the USW logo was chosen and the Banner team confirmed that they could deliver the face masks in time for the start of term.

From timely placement of the PO to the final mile delivery, both parties worked in harmony to produce the face coverings to the agreed timescales, with the whole project running seamlessly throughout!

During the process Banner kept USW well informed of developments, including closely tracking and updating the team with regards to delivery once the face coverings had left the far east.

The Procurement Team at the University of South Wales were very happy with the finished product, which was distributed to students at the start of the 2020/21 academic year in September of 2020.

The Benefits:

The project was a great success and really cemented the relationship between USW and Banner, further demonstrating our continued commitment as a reliable and trustworthy supplier.

Banner was extremely proud to be involved in supporting USW to make the campus as Covid-Secure as possible. Due to the success of the project, a repeat order was placed in May 2021 with future commitments of orders of this type.

Through Banner, USW not only have access to an extensive range of products at great pricing, but also the ability to consult and receive support and guidance on bespoke products.

Another significant benefit is that all deliveries from Banner to USW are made by our local delivery drivers who are based in Bridgend, which is less than 20 miles from the USW campus. Not only does that mean close support for USW, but it also means that we are contributing significant social value to the local economy.
