Banner Created Bespoke Print Leaving Gifts for a Leading Manufacturer

In the Summer of 2021, Banner were involved in a large gift project for one of our customers.

Working with the client, Banner designed and developed a bespoke leavers gift for all 3,000 employees who were made redundant as a result of factory closures.

The Service:

Banner spent over 6 months working closely with the client to develop their ideas to create something super special for their valued staff.

Our streamlined process, managed by a Banner Business Development Manager, ensured we had direct communication with manufacturers in China. We proactively covered every potential issue by applying vigorous quality measures throughout. We also included a 2-stage quality check of the finished product at source, followed by a third and final check by us once the products landed in the UK.

Our hands-on approach included the implementation of a manual “check sheet” for each of the 3,000 gifts required to ensure that ‘all’ 4 components were perfectly matched throughout.

As a result of the problem with the Suez Canal in March 2021, Banner switched to an air freight service to ship products from the manufacturer in China back to the UK, to ensure the client’s deadline was met. For shipping we chose to use pallets, not cartons, in order to best guarantee the safety of the products and to ensure their bulk entry into the UK without any items going astray.

The Product:

Banner designed and created a beautiful, high-quality presentation box (255mm x 160mm x 35mm) which was finished with red foil, spot UV varnish and a 4-colour process image on the inside. The box was produced using soft touch paper – all FSC approved and contained recycled components, all of which are also fully recyclable..

Within each box, we created a 4-part personalisation gift which included a personalised certificate, a replicate plaque found within the cars (manufactured by on-site staff) and a branded leather keyring. Both of these items were then engraved with the employee’s specific personal associate number that they have carried with them throughout their years of service.

For “Contract Staff” without associate numbers, Banner created 50 separate generic certificates, plaques and keyrings that were unnamed but had a simple “Thank You” message engraved into them, as well as 40 ‘blanks’ for ad-hoc use.

Packaging and Distribution:

To streamline the distribution of the gift, we printed ID labels that were affixed to the bottom of each individual gift box sleeve. The gifts were carefully boxed for each department in associate number order. We also included a live check sheet detailing every member of staff that was packed within that specific box, along with an additional copy firmly affixed to the outer side of each to ensure easy distribution for the leavers presentation. We took every measure possible to ensure that this beautiful very personal gift was ‘perfectly’ produced, distributed and received by the leavers.
